the American Board of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Zudans has served on the Medical Advisory Board for MACS (Most Accurate Cataract Surgery), a national coalition of medical professionals dedicated to defining best practice benchmarks in cataract surgery. He was a lead investigator for Softec HD intraocular lens studies and the first to introduce No-Drop Cataract Surgery to our area.
Dr. Zudans completed his ophthalmology residency at the prestigious Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, consistently ranked the number one ophthalmology program in the country for over 15 years by US News and World Report. Before his residency, he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from the University of Florida where he was an Anderson scholar and elected Phi Beta Kappa. He received his Doctorate of Medicine degree from the University of Florida College of Medicine and was elected to the national medical honor society Alpha Omega Alpha representing the top 10% of his class.
Dr. Zudans is Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. His study for MACS related to HD lens implants was published in the Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the preeminent peer-reviewed journal for cataract surgeons. In addition to his work in the Sebastian, FL area as an ophthalmologist, he is a local speaker and maintains active memberships in the Florida Society of Ophthalmology, American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, Florida Medical Association, and Indian River County Medical Society.
Committed to local issues, Dr. Zudans was elected to the Vero Beach City Council in 2017 and Mayor in 2019. He is a member of Sunrise Rotary and attends Calvary Chapel of Vero Beach. He is the past President of the Indian River County Medical Society and served on the Indian River County Hospital District Board of Trustees. Dr. Zudans, his wife Tracey, and their four children love the Florida lifestyle and have resided in Vero Beach since 2002.
